Alucard Visual Effect - Original Appearance?

In the new Netflix series Castlevania, Alucard has a certain blink/steak effect, that I distinctly remember seeing as a kid in one of the old Castlevania games.
Here's a clip of the fight where the said effect appears. It happens at about 1 35.
Can anyone help me source the game this is from?
